About Us
We are an Indigenous-led organization dedicated to providing practical, culturally responsive support that strengthens communities.
Our approach is shaped by cultural understanding, community connection, and a commitment to services that honours identity, dignity, and self-determination.
Our work is rooted in relationship building, and lived experience of the challenges connected to transition, housing instability, and program development.
We believe support should be accessible, respectful, and grounded in real community needs. Whether we are working directly with youth or helping organizations strengthen programming, our goal is to provide meaningful, reliable, and community-focused solutions.
What we believe
At PISIM, we have a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves a good life, or miyo-pimatisiwin. This belief continues to guide our work and reflects our commitment to supporting healing, dignity, and well-being in ways that are meaningful, respectful, and culturally grounded.
We recognize the importance of cultural healing and the need for support that responds to trauma with care, compassion, and understanding. At the heart of our work is the belief that healing becomes more meaningful and relevant when traditional practices, cultural knowledge, and community connection are honoured as part of the journey forward.
We are committed to fostering autonomy, confidence, control, and empowerment as people move forward in their lives. Our approach is compassionate, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed, with empathy at the centre of every relationship and every service we provide.
Who we serve
We serve Indigenous youth who are in care, leaving care, or feeling disconnected from family, culture, community, and identity.
We also work with organizations that believe in Indigenous-led, healing-centered care and want to help youth find belonging, healing, stability, and hope.
We support Indigenous child and family services agencies, community leadership, and that are building or strengthening their programs.
Our Values
Our work is grounded in the Seven Sacred Teachings:
Wisdom: Applying knowledge and lived experience to support informed and responsible decision-making.
Love: Demonstrating unconditional care, compassion, and respect for individuals, families, and communities.
Respect: Honouring all people, cultures, and life experiences with dignity and care.
Bravery: Advocating for youth and doing what is right, even in challenging circumstances.
Honesty: Operating with integrity, transparency, and accountability.
Humility: Recognizing the importance of community, collaboration, and shared learning.
Truth: Living and working authentically, grounded in lived experience and cultural teachings.
Why choose us
Our team brings lived experience, cultural understanding, and frontline knowledge that helps us connect with youth in care and moving into adulthood.
We understand the deep impact of being separated from family, community, land, language, and identity. That is why our work is built on trust, respect, and helping youth reconnect with who they are and where they come from.
What sets PISIM apart is that we do more than deliver services. We build relationships, restore connection, and walk alongside youth, families, and communities with care and accountability.
When partners choose PISIM, they are choosing a credible, culturally-grounded team that honours community, values trust, and is committed to helping youth move beyond survival toward belonging, stability, and long-term success.
